Sparked by Brooke Gallagher, Fairfield eyes another MAAC championship

Fairfield coach Laura Field’s faith in Brooke Gallagher never wavered.

It may have taken longer than the former Notre Dame High School (N.J.) standout hoped it would to attain the heights her coach envisioned five years ago. It may have taken a lot of patience, perseverance and the restoration of confidence in her left knee that was taken from her when she tore her anterior cruciate ligament during fall ball of her freshman year.

But over the past two seasons, Gallagher has become who the Stags needed.

“I’ve told Brooke that from her first day here we always thought she could be a go-to player for us,” Field said.
