Jaffe: Too much of a good thing? No, just too early

In 2002, Syracuse began its season in the last week of February. This year’s Orange were four games deep by then, having opened against Colgate on Feb. 7.

I woke up on a late February weekend and flipped on the television to what should have been a sight for sore eyes.

It was a college lacrosse report, a pre-game show for a big early-season match-up that was about to air.

I’m willing to admit that big games sometimes derail my weekends. I stop doing errands or put off chores or re-arrange days in order to watch the contests — both in the men’s and women’s game — that pique my interest.

But this time, nothing. As much as I love lacrosse and am anxious to see my first games of the season, I took a quick look and moved on with my day.
