News: COVID-19 brings cancellation of NCAA championships, players retain season

Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium is becoming one of the busiest venues in all of lacrosse.

Earlier this week the NCAA announced that all winter and spring championships would not be played in an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

Numerous conferences across the country have also chosen to fully suspend all athletic competitions as many schools have chosen to administer classes virtually the rest of the spring semester.

Leagues with local programs that have canceled the spring season across all divisions. Winter tournaments across all sports were also cancelled.

However, things took a turn earlier today with the news, first reported by Jeff Goodman of ESPN, that the NCAA "has agreed to grant relief for the use of a season of competition for student-athletes who have participated in spring sports."
