There’s been a jolt of lightning running through Storrs, Conn., this winter.

“We’ve been having real high energy,” said sophomore midfielder Sydney Watson, who after a revelatory freshman season figures to bear a brunt of the scoring and distribution load in 2019.

On the eve of the Huskies’ season-opener up at Syracuse, head coach Katie Woods described a preseason training atmosphere where players were coming off the field “just gassed.”

“I think our team this year is really committed – not that we weren’t in the past, but they’re coming in every day and working really, really hard,” Woods said. “They’re really putting it all out there, which I think is great. We’re all on the same page.”
