After missing out entirely on seasons last spring, high school lacrosse teams in Massachusetts would be looking at a smaller season in 2021 according to a plan the MIAA could approve as early as Wednesday.

The MIAA’s COVID-19 Task Force voted Monday to approve a plan that would create a fourth sports season -- a “wedge” season -- in the 2020-21 academic year to give fall sports that are currently deemed “high risk” by the state a chance to have a season several months down the road.

Under the plan, fall sports would be played from Sept. 14 to Nov. 20, winter sports from Nov. 30 to Feb. 21, the wedge season  from Feb. 22 to April 25, and spring sports from April 26 to July 3.
