End of the road: No spring sports seasons in Mass.

John Isaf thought the mix was just about perfect.

Here was his Medfield (Mass.) High School team, heavy on seniors (12), college commits (six) and motivation, after getting nipped by Winchester, 11-10, in a taut Division 2 championship game last June.

It was a team he was looking forward to coaching before the COVID-19 pandemic shut everything down last month.

“When you look at your team, and how you need seniors to play leadership roles and step up … these guys worked really hard in the offseason and are going on to play at the next level,” Isaf said Tuesday. “They worked so hard to get ready for the season.”
