Yale enters 2025 coming off an 11-4 season a year ago. It fell to Princeton in the Ivy League tournament and, as a result, missed the NCAA tournament.
In some ways, the story of that season was who didn’t play for Yale. Two-thirds of the expected starting attack, Leo Johnson (Greenwich, Conn.) and Chris Lyons, missed the year due to injury. The same is true for first-line midfielder Brad Sharp.
Faceoff specialist Machado Rodriguez came out of the gates hot, winning Yale the lion’s share of draws, statistically performing like one of the top specialists in the nation, but had his spring cut short by injury. The injured list grew and grew.
Despite that, Matt Brandau put up a 100-plus point season and plenty of other weapons got the shine on Yale’s offense. Finally healthy, Yale will look to make a trip back to the NCAA tournament this May.
