The New England lacrosse season could not have started off with a bigger bang in the opening weekend as three-time NCAA finalist Boston College took on UMass with the Minutewomen claiming their first-ever victory against a team ranked in the top five nationally.

New Hampshire got off to a good start against Division I newcomer Merrimack, while UConn started the season with an upset of Fairfield.

The Ivy League gets going this weekend with another biggie between Dartmouth and UMass.

The top of the New England poll should be as wide open as ever this spring starting with a new team leading the way this spring after BC ran the table last spring.
