The first lacrosse camp I ever coached was Nike Lacrosse Camp with Andy Towers (Team USA/Brown) directing at Governor’s Academy in … (gulp) 1999.
I was a college sophomore and still very raw, both in terms of my play and coaching ability. I had never attended a camp as a kid, but I knew I loved the game and I wanted to make an impression on the campers and Towers.
By the end of the camp, I had learned a ton from Andy and fellow coaches about X’s and O’s, as well as how to direct a fun camp event. Sessions were high energy, engaging and — given the director’s dry-witted style of humor — really entertaining.
