PHILADELPHIA -- After a pair of overtime thrillers in the semifinals of the NCAA Division 1 men's tournament, it came down to the last game of the year, a championship battle between Duke and Notre Dame on Monday.
A year removed from both missing the NCAA tournament, the bluebloods emerged as the last two standing on Memorial Day at Lincoln Financial Field.
Thanks in part to a pair of Yale transfers, Chris Fake and Brian Tevlin, the Fighting Irish had enough to take a 13-9 win and claim the program's first national championship.
They started fast and made the plays down the stretch.
