When Sami Taylor was hired to coach girls lacrosse at the newly co-ed Dexter Southfield School in 2016, she estimated there were just 17 girls in the graduating class.
Not exactly an unlimited talent pool.
It’s taken years for the Brookline, Mass., program to reach the radar in New England, but nobody can deny it’s there now. This spring’s 13-1-1 record landed it comfortably in the regional top 10, and with its core made up of talented returning seniors, it could be even better next spring.
“The girls in the junior class, they’ve been the heart and soul of the program,” said Taylor. “It’s been amazing watching them grow.”
