Last year, Staples High School reached uncharted territory. Connecticut has long been dominated by FCIAC powerhouses Darien, New Canaan, Wilton and Greenwich, along with Fairfield Prep. It’s not often another program upsets the order and takes the Class L crown.
That’s just what Staples did in 2022.
The Wreckers defeated Darien, 12-4, in the Class L championship and had the Connecticut Player of the Year, faceoff specialist Henry Dodge.
More than that, they were ranked the No. 1 public school team in the country by Inside Lacrosse.
