SUDBURY, Mass. – After a year off, I returned to one of the most unique tournaments in the region — the New England Lacrosse Showcase.
NELS is a final chance for high school teams to unite after their season and compete without their graduated seniors. It is one of the few events to eschew club teams, welcoming schools from New England (sans their coaches to comply with MIAA rules) and beyond to compete against one another.
While the regional players compete without their coaches, teams from as far as Washington State and top-rated teams from New Jersey play with their full complement, testing themselves against the best teams from New England.
Today we're concluding the NELS breakdowns with the hosts, Lincoln- Sudbury. The godfathers of this tournament are also the gold standard for how to craft a lacrosse culture in Massachusetts. If you were hoping for something different, then you have probably been associated with one of the schools that has fallen to the Warriors.
