Carpe diem. Seize the day.
It’s tattooed on Sydney Skalstad’s right wrist. She got it during the first semester of her freshman year at Fresno State when her confidence was low and her stress level high; she was, after all, 18, living on her own for the first time across the country from her home in Maryland, and playing Division 1 lacrosse.
And after finding her comfort zone there, here she is, three years later, once again at a new school — this time in Hamden, Conn., at Quinnipiac — unsure of where she’s going around campus.
This time, however, she’s more confident in who she is as a person and a player, and she is ready to embrace the challenges in front of her.
