Why Deerfield goalie Nick Pecora committed to Navy

When Nick Pecora looks back, it feels a little surreal how close he came to not even considering a place that eventually felt so perfect.

That place was the United States Naval Academy, where he committed in early August. But an unconventional road brought him there.

The Class of 2020 goalie from Deerfield Academy hadn't found much luck in the recruiting process. There were schools that he liked and liked him, but the finer details weren’t coming together.
