When the UMass women take the field on Feb. 11 for their opener against UMass Lowell, the program will be under the direction of a different head coach for the first time in more than a decade.
A lot’s happened to the UMass program in the past 12 years, a lot of it good and a lot of it because of former coach Angela McMahon-Serpone, who stepped down in May to join the faculty at Deerfield Academy, where she will also coach girls lacrosse.
The new woman in charge is Jana Drummond, who spent the previous five seasons as an assistant to McMahon-Serpone, focusing on the defense and draws, and having a hand in the winning.
The biggest adjustment to her new role?
