It was a great start to the season for UMass, and a productive one for senior attack Haley Connaughton (Westwood, Mass.).
Connaughton provided nine points as the 22nd-ranked Minutewomen started their campaign with a 23-13 victory at Boston University on Sunday in advance of Tuesday’s anticipated clash at No. 13 Boston College.
Connaughton split her points between five goals and four assists as Massachusetts won its fourth consecutive season-opening game.
Attacks Kaitlyn Cerasi and Alex Finn (Westwood, Mass.), and midfielder Stephanie Croke (Norwell, Mass.) all had hat tricks for UMass, which saw 11 players get onto the scoresheet.
