Way-early Top 10: Yale should again pace Div. 1 men in 2020

It was quite a weekend down in Philadelphia, with one New England team emerging as national champions and another having its hopes of back-to-back titles dashed in a thrilling final. Next year, both squads will vie for the honor of top Division 1 team in the region, as Merrimack moves up from Division 2 into Yale's realm.

Much can change between now and February, but we took an early look at the top 10 teams for 2020 across New England. Teams are, of course, losing talent to graduation, though promising pieces also return.

Will Yale set the standard for a third straight year? Are UMass and Boston University poised for that next big step that proved elusive? And where does Merrimack fit into the whole landscape?

Below is our look at next year’s possible hierarchy heading into the summer.
