I know, I’m sad that the summer is ending, too.
My second summer on the recruiting circuit was far more organized than my first. Picking and choosing events based on the sheer volume of New England participants was not an easy endeavor, but as a result, I saw a lot of local talent.
There is nothing quite like watching players in person. You can show me all the tape in the world on a kid, but until I’ve actually seen him perform at a high level with my own two eyes, the impact doesn’t last.
With that in mind, please take into consideration that I am only putting up players that I saw in person on this list. I’m sure there are higher-ranked guys out there -- in fact, I am positive of it -- but any recruiter worth his salt knows that until you get on the field to see the impact of a player on the game, you’re missing out on what makes a player special.
