Although it might seem futile to pick sleepers in an MIAA division that has a four-time reigning state champion, with three of those championship wins coming against the same team, the talent in Division 1 is deep and several teams have the ability to make a run in June.
We saw that last year with No. 7 seed Needham crashing the party and making the state final.
As for MIAA D-2, it seems there’s always one team every year that goes on a crazy regular-season run and jumps up the rankings from its previous year, whether it was Nashoba Regional in ‘22, Marblehead in ‘23 or Westfield in ‘24.
Here are four of the MIAA sleeper teams in D-1 and D-2 that have the ability to climb the power rankings and/or get hot come June.
