The long-awaited first games on the region's Division 1 women's lacrosse schedule are slated to be played this weekend after an 11-month stretch of no competition due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Among the 15 teams from the region that are playing some sort of a season (four others compete in the Ivy League, which announced Thursday there would be no spring league competition or championships) are a collection of supremely talented players, some still in the early stages of their college careers and some returning for a fifth year and one last chance at achievement.
We picked out 11 standout players from the region's teams who deserve particular attention in this unique season.
