It’s easy enough when you watch a lacrosse game to just follow the ball and see a dodger initiate. Maybe he scores, maybe he feeds someone else who gets a shot off.
But if you widen the lens, you’ll see just how much work is being done by the players who aren’t the dodger. Quality off-ball players are smart and cerebral, and understand not just the offense they play in, but the intricacies of the defenses they play against.
Enter Villanova’s Patrick Daly.
The 6-foot-2 senior from Tabor Academy, who has taken on the off-ball role this season for the Wildcats, has so far looked like a natural.
