Burr and Burton Academy held a 14-13 lead over Champlain Valley Union until giving up a tying goal with 2.5 seconds left in the Division 1 championship game.
The lead was gone.
But BBA’s collective drive and poise remained firmly in place.
“We had been talking about resiliency and belief in ourselves all year long,” BBA coach Ken Stefanak said. “In between that last goal and the first overtime period, we just talked about doing what we did all season, and knowing that everything we’d done to prepare us could bring us to where we wanted to be, which was finishing with a win.”
