The University of New Hampshire women’s lacrosse team was poised for the big leap 18 months ago.
Coming off a three-win season the previous spring, and still looking for the first winning campaign under former U.S. national team player Sarah Albrecht (Braintree, Mass.), the Wildcats were on the upswing behind a local core.
Then midfielders Rylee Leonard (Coventry, R.I.) and Devan Miller (Bristol, R.I.) both sustained season-ending torn ACL injuries in fall ball. The Wildcats still managed a winning record at 4-3 in America East, yet settled for a 6-11 mark overall, with five straight losses to end the season.
