After winning a third straight gold medal at the Women’s World Cup in Guildford, England, last month, the U.S. women’s national team can stake a claim to that term, even if some of the key parts are moving out.
On a team with strong New England ties, two players who celebrated afterward were midfielder Sarah Bullard (Needham, Mass./Buckingham, Browne & Nichols) and goalie Devon Wills (Dartmouth), co-captains who closed out their World Cup careers with a third goal medal after the United States beat Canada, 10-5, in a rainy final at Surrey Sports Park.
