New England’s newest college lacrosse team is Elms College.
Last weekend, the Blazers played the first men's lacrosse game in the history of the school against SUNY-Cobleskill -- and won. Not only did they win, they won, 12-4, and dominated play for the entire contest, something not common among first-year programs.
Located in Chicopee, Mass., a few miles from Springfield, Elms has a campus that is old and historical. Oxidized metal gates and tall brick buildings line the exterior and interior of the school. It has a peaceful old-world sort of feel where professors still wear leather patches on their -- pardon the pun -- blazers.
The win was a long time coming.
