The title holders have taken one on the chin.
Defending national champion Wesleyan, the No. 1 team in our rankings heading into the season, fell well behind at Bates on Saturday and its late rally ran out of time in a 15-12 loss.
That outcome shuffled New England Lacrosse Journal's weekly top 10, as Tufts ascends to the top spot after an impressive road win against nationally-ranked Stevens. Teams from the NESCAC hold the top four spots in the rankings, and six of the 10.
There's also the annual Mustang Classic to keep an eye out for, as Middlebury, Wesleyan and Amherst will all travel down to Owings Mills, Md., for some of the best Division 3 has to offer. In the meantime, you can check out our March 2019 magazine if you missed it.
