The great college roster backlog: Inside the numbers game

We have all met the person at the office who claims he was good enough at a sport to play Division 1 but just didn’t have the grades.

We also know that most of the time, they’re lying.

But we don’t get mad. No, we smile and move on with our day, never paying it a second thought. Because we know that the best players don’t slip by any coaching staff. Not in lacrosse. Not in the modern day.

But what if I told you the amount of players has exponentially increased and the number of places for them to play at the highest level has not only plateaued, but somehow shrunk?
