Choosing a college is a big decision for high schoolers with a lot of questions that need to be answered. What do I want to study? How far away from home do I want to go? Do I want to live in a city or on a college campus? Can I afford to go here financially?
For many, an additional question comes into play: Should I go to Division 1 or Division 3? Many players from New England have faced that decision, and they say the answer isn’t as obvious as you might think.
“I definitely had that sense that (Division 3) was kind of going to be an option,” said Adam Figler, a senior at Belmont Hill who is committed to play lacrosse at Williams College. “I still kind of had the D-1 dream, but I always understood it was academics first and finding the right fit over going D-1 for the sake of saying I went D-1.”
