Michelle Smith is one of the women who has witnessed the growth of the Division 3 game from the ground level.
Before she took over the program at Babson College in 2011, she was starring as a player at Trinity.
Before that, she was learning the game growing up in Wayland, Mass., in a girls lacrosse landscape that was a lot emptier than today’s.
“There was one club in Mass., Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine,” said Smith. “It was Mass Elite and that was it.
