All sectional brackets are not created equal.
At least not for MIAA girls lacrosse. Need proof? In the last decade, the eventual Division 1 champion has come out of the South eight of the last nine times, whether it be Notre Dame Academy, Wellesley, Needham or Westwood.
And this year?
South teams hold the top three positions in the statewide New England Lacrosse Journal rankings, and only one will be able to advance to the final four.
“The South section in D-1 is a gauntlet,” said Wellesley coach Steve Balter this week.
