On the U.S. Lacrosse website, there is a list of 91 sanctioned tournaments and a second list of 24 tournaments currently on trial to be sanctioned, not to mention other tournaments that are hosted.
Many of these tournaments take place during the summer, and they are a great way for lacrosse players to continue to develop; playing in games allows players to take the skills they’ve learned and use them in game situations at game speed with real stakes on the line, which can’t always be replicated at practice.
Playing club lacrosse and in tournaments is only part of the development process, however. It’s important for the player not to forget that learning and instruction also should continue, and that’s why summer instructional camps are important.
