State of play: MIAA, CIAC, others take steps as spring looms

On Tuesday, winter high school sports athletes in Connecticut were cleared to hold their first practices of the season.

On Wednesday, the MIAA voted against postseason tournaments in Massachusetts’ upcoming Fall 2 “wedge” season, but did not rule out the chance of sponsoring tournaments in the spring.

Coaches across the region and beyond are waiting for the next update from the National Federation of State High School Associations, which will determine what risk classification lacrosse falls into.

So with traditional starts to spring seasons now just two months away, here’s a look at where each New England state stands in regard to high school sports.
