WELLESLEY, Mass. – In most cases, it’s never a surprise to see coaches turn to star players for a boost when it comes to tournament season. Pick any sport and any level – chances are that simple reality would apply.
Fans witnessed that firsthand at Babson College Friday night in both of the MIAA girls’ lacrosse championships, starting at the Division 1 level, where Notre Dame Academy (Hingham) defeated Western Massachusetts powerhouse Longmeadow in a nail-biter, 8-7.
As part of their winning performance, the Cougars turned to two collegiate-bound standouts to deliver the program its first state title since 2013, as Julia Greene (Stanford) and Madison Ahern (Notre Dame) combined for five goals in the effort.
