Mike Sciamanna’s fourth season as St. Anselm head coach comes with a different view.
The Hawks are used to being the underdog. Last year, for instance, after playing Merrimack to a four-goal loss in the Northeast-10 championship game, the Hawks couldn’t help but wonder what could have been as they sat at home, watching the Warriors roll to a national title.
This year, however, they’re going to have a hard time playing the “no respect” card. Senior attackmen Anthony Busconi (Watertown, Mass.) and Patrick Sweeney (North Andover, Mass.) both earned preseason All-American nods from Inside Lacrosse, while the Hawks are a consensus top-15 squad among all major polls in Division 2.
That new set of expectations suits them just fine, Sciamanna said.
