As the final days of a lamentable 2020 in college lacrosse wind down, changes are already being made by some conferences, and the NCAA, as those organizations look ahead to another spring that will, in all likelihood, be backdropped by COVID-19.
In the latest news to come out this week, Inside Lacrosse reported that the Patriot League -- which includes Boston University and Holy Cross -- will open its season on March 6 and feature North and South divisions, split by geography.
BU and Holy Cross will be grouped with Army-West Point and Colgate on the men’s side, and with Army-West Point, Colgate and Lafayette on the women’s side.
The eight-weekend regular season (seven weekends plus another reserved for makeups) will be followed by conference tournaments the weekend of May 7-9.
