Robert Scott was a Hall of Fame lacrosse coach with an impressive resume. As a player, he was an All-American midfielder who won a national championship.
He coached at Johns Hopkins from 1955 until 1974, where he had a career record of 158-55 to go with seven national championships and three Coach of the Year awards. He also wrote a book – Lacrosse: Technique and Tradition – and spent two decades as the Hopkins athletic director.
The Bob Scott Award, named in his honor, recognizes a senior who, according to USA Lacrosse, “recognizes one player from each area who goes above and beyond in service to his team, school and community.
This year's winner from the Independent School League, voted on by the league's 16 coaches, was senior David Bates of Middlesex.
