While several conferences in Division 1 lacrosse struggled with the burden of COVID protocols last spring, the blight of the pandemic was felt most heavily by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
The MAAC is home to just one New England team -- Quinnipiac University -- but players from the region also feature on the rosters of the league's other seven teams.
With a truncated season and tiebreakers failing to declare a single regular-season champion -- the honor was shared by Quinnipiac, Manhattan and Monmouth -- the MAAC is in a state of flux. While Monmouth eventually won the right to represent the conference in the 2021 NCAA tournament, a hierarchy is yet to be established.
