SO CLOSE: BC’s comeback falls short in an epic NCAA final

There will be no repeat.

Both defending NCAA champion Boston College and top-ranked North Carolina needed late comebacks to win their respective semifinal games by a single goal on Friday night, an electric start to final four weekend.

Sunday’s national championship game at Homewood Field in Baltimore was also a one-goal affair, played in front of an electric full house of 8,500 fans.

But this time, it was the winner protecting the lead late instead of having to wrest it away.
