The Rams certainly gave the impression that the road to the program’s latest crown was nothing but smooth sailing, yet there were some in Rhode Island who believed the gap had been narrowed after the second game of the regular season — an 11- 10 win by the Quakers at La Salle on April 7.
After that defeat, which was the first time La Salle had lost an Interscholastic League game since early in the 2015 season, the Rams rattled off 11 straight victories. In the regular-season rematch with the Quakers, La Salle rolled to a 17-4 victory that sent a clear message to the rest of the field: Watch out come playoff time.
