‘Change is hard at first, messy in the middle and gorgeous at the end.”

The words are bestselling author Robin Sharma’s, but the quote so aptly describes the roundabout journey of Mike Swirbalus thus far.

Swirbalus knows all about change. In a way, the constant state of change surrounding him has been a key driver behind his never-ending quest to improve his game.

After a year apiece spent at Milton Academy and Westwood (Mass.) High School, Swirbalus transferred to St. Sebastian’s in Needham, Mass. Always a strong player, he emerged at St. Sebastian’s in 2018 as one of the top offensive players in the state, tallying 41 goals and 22 assists. His stellar performance was enough to earn a scholarship from Duke University, where he will head after he graduates this spring.
