In 2014, the Syracuse men’s lacrosse team was one of the best in the sport. The Orange were coming off an appearance in the NCAA championship game the year prior.
The team had five All-Americans — attackmen Kevin Rice and Dylan Donahue, defenders Brandon Mullins and Matt Harris, and midfielder Billy Ward (honorable mention) — and owned the No. 2 seed in the NCAA tournament.
None of that mattered to Bryant, however.
It didn’t bother the players or coaches that they had to travel to Syracuse and play in the Carrier Dome only four days after defeating Siena, 9-8, in the NCAA tournament play-in game.
