With its defensive spine back, Rivers enters the 2019 season with a backbone that could mask growing pains as new pieces get introduced elsewhere.
Five players have departed from last year's squad that went 13-6 overall and 10-5 in the Independent School League. The group's top three scorers have moved on, including leading scorer Peter Burnes (Natick, Mass.), who’s now at Union.
While head coach Justin Walker shuffles the deck, the back end remains firm via seniors Johnny Kantaros (Middlebury) and Tony Andreozzi (Brown, hockey) forming one of the ISL's more formidable duos.
