At 6-foot-2 and over 180 pounds, it’s easy to see how and why Evan Anastas (Cape Neddick, Maine) drew attention from Division 1 programs.
What’s a bit unusual -- in today’s saturated commitment climate -- about his background is that he is a homegrown player from Maine who led York High School to the Class B state championship last season as a sophomore midfielder.
The Wildcats won, 12-10, and Anastas was a key cog in the team’s success. He scored six goals in the title game, slicing his way through the Messalonskee defense time and time again to push his team to the summit.
It’s a trait that has helped not only his high school team but his club team as well.
