It was the second practice of the spring at Concord-Carlisle (Mass.) High School.
The Patriots were coming off a season that had taken them all the way to the MIAA Division 1 quarterfinals. Of the many reasons for optimism, one was sophomore attack Teagan Morrissey, who was primed for a big role.
It never happened.
Morrissey remembers splitting a pair of defenders during a March drill and then planting her left leg awkwardly. The result was a torn ACL that ended her high school season before a game was played, and wiped out a critical summer of recruiting.
