Recruiting: Why Sloane Ginevan of Maine’s bound for Notre Dame

Sloane Ginevan gets the quizzical looks and double-takes at showcases, just by responding to one of the most basic introductory questions: Where are you from?

Maine.

“I think it definitely separates me from the other girls,” said the Falmouth High School junior. “I go to all these camps and they’re always surprised to hear that I’m from Maine.”

Thanks to Ginevan, the Vacation State is on the Class of ‘23 recruiting map. The 5-foot-10 midfielder recently became the first Division 1 commit from Maine -- male or female -- when she verbaled to Notre Dame.
