At St. George’s School, junior midfielder Izzy Lahah plays lacrosse -- and other sports -- with a single-minded purpose.
“Me and my assistant coach often describe her as a golden retriever,” said Blair Ingraham, who coaches Lahah in lacrosse and field hockey. “She sees the ball, she needs the ball and she needs to do something with it. She’s the same way in lacrosse.”
A three-sport standout (she plays ice hockey in the winter), Lahah’s athletic future came into focus recently when she made her commitment to play lacrosse at national power Syracuse, a team that's reached the NCAA championship game three times in the last decade.
She chuckles about it now, about how her age coach at Mass Elite -- Carla Farkes, a ‘Cuse alum -- was always planting the seeds of a future with the Orange. But it wasn’t until she attended an August showcase there that the idea began taking hold.
