Ted Budreski considered going to private school. But after weighing all his options, the Winchester (Mass.) High School standout junior midfielder was more than happy to stay where he was.
“I have everything I need at my public school – great teammates and great coaches,” Budreski said. “Some of my best friends that I grew up playing with on youth teams, now I’m playing with them in high school, too.”
Playing at a public school certainly didn’t interfere in the college recruiting process for Budreski. He was being chased by multiple schools, whittled his choices down to Georgetown and Duke, and committed to the Hoyas in late September.
“I was really stuck between Duke and Georgetown, and (Winchester head) coach (Phil) Reuland texted me and said they want to know what your decision is because they have other people waiting that are ready to commit,” Budreski said. “And I think it just came down to the coaching staff. We just really hit it off with them.”
