Acton-Boxborough (Mass.) face-off man Michael Calvo’s commitment to UMass is the perfect example of patience paying off.
In a time where the focus is on the Class of ‘26 making their commitments, it’s refreshing to see the determination and patience of a player from the Class of ‘25 secure a noteworthy commitment this late into the cycle.
An integral part of Acton-Boxborough’s success, Calvo learned his craft under the tutelage of current UMass Lowell draw man Devin German. German, now in his junior year with the River Hawks, helped Calvo learn on the job in practice as a freshman.
That influence really helped him hone in on what it takes to be a Division 1-level face-off man.
