Shortly before Kathryn Riley was hired as the Weymouth (Mass.) High School girls lacrosse coach in 2021, she was discussing that program with another coach in the Bay State Conference.
More specifically, the futility of the program.
Riley was warned about a losing culture and a lack of athletes. That warning was in the back of her mind when she saw her new players for the first time.
After she saw a few of those players, including tall midfielder Megan Doyle, who was then just a freshman, many of the concerns went away.
